Morning Drop-off Update
Good Afternoon Saranac Middle and High School Families,
Over the past year, we have seen an increasing number of students being dropped off early in the morning, which has become a safety concern. Currently, we have one staff member assigned to each side of the building to supervise students before the school day begins. Due to the growing number of early arrivals, we are no longer able to safely supervise the volume of students being dropped off before school.
We encourage families to utilize district transportation whenever possible. Doing so helps reduce the number of students being dropped off in the morning and eases congestion during afternoon dismissal. At the end of the school day, our campus manages multiple activities simultaneously, including student drivers exiting the parking lot, athletic buses arriving for practices and games, dismissal buses loading and departing, and parent pick-up traffic. The volume of vehicles during this time places significant strain on our parking lot and can compromise the safety of students, staff, and families.
If your child is not currently riding the bus, we encourage you to contact our Transportation Department to discuss available options. The department can be reached at (518) 565-5630, by email at oplumadore@saranac.org, or through a ParentSquare message to Olivia Plumadore.
As we plan for the upcoming school year, morning student drop-off will begin at 8:00 a.m. Buses begin unloading at 8:20 a.m., and classes start at 8:25 a.m. We wanted to provide families with advance notice so that alternative arrangements can be made prior to the start of the school year.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to maintain a safe environment for all students.
Please be mindful that this will not impact high school students attending morning club meetings, teacher led review sessions, early practices and/or CV-TEC AM session students who ride the bus.
